Culture

Peter Drucker is widely credited with telling us that “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”  Indeed, strategy is built on observations and assumptions, both of which can change.  Strategy can also give us a false sense of confidence in future outcomes.  When the flaws of any given strategy emerge, on what does an organization or community rely to maximize the potential success in an unforeseen opportunity and to minimize the potential catastrophe in an unforeseen risk?  Culture.

Core Values.
Resilient Community.

A clear statement of and understanding of core values, along with leadership that models and promotes those values, are critical components of a healthy culture.  A healthy culture is one based on respect in which every individual feels a sense of ownership and responsibility for the whole.

3H3 Leadership facilitators can work with your leadership and teams to articulate that value set and see that your strategy and leadership development reflect those values.

One of the great corollaries for strong culture in our communities is resilience.  At a moment in history where our society laments the so-called “leadership gap” and it feels like there is more evidence of communities fraying than bonding, leaders should pay greater attention than ever to the social capital in our communities.

3H3 Leadership can help communities develop strategies for promoting servant leadership among public servants and civic leaders with the goal of building social capital in our communities.
